Balangir R&B Engineer Under Vigilance Scanner for Disproportionate Assets

Bhubaneswar: Dileswar Majhi, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Titlagarh R&B Sub-Division under Kantabanji R&B Division in Balangir district, has come under the scanner of Odisha Vigilance for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets.
Acting on allegations of illegal asset accumulation, Odisha Vigilance conducted simultaneous raids at six locations across Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Balangir districts on Thursday. The searches were carried out by a team of 5 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), 8 Inspectors, 2 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), and other staff.
During the raids, the following assets were unearthed in the name of Majhi and his family members:
- A double-storeyed building (4,500 sq. ft.) in Sambalpur town, housing a beauty parlour operated by Majhi’s spouse.
- Another double-storeyed building (6,300 sq. ft.) at Brajarajnagar Unit-II.
- Two residential buildings at Lahandapur in Jharsuguda district.
- A market complex with four shops (approx. 900 sq. ft.) at Brajarajnagar Unit-II.
- Nine high-value plots, including:
- One in Sambalpur town
- One in Brajarajnagar
- Six on the outskirts of Sambalpur
- One in Badmal, Jharsuguda
Additional recoveries include:
- ₹6.57 lakh in cash
- Around 300 grams of gold
- Bank deposits worth ₹20 lakh (subject to verification)
- One Swift Dzire car and two two-wheelers
Valuation and measurement of the properties are being conducted by the Vigilance Technical Wing. As of the latest reports, the searches were still ongoing.
