‘Bada Mahasnana’ Ritual Performed at Srimandir

The sacred Bada Mahasnana ritual was performed at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri on Friday, following established temple traditions. The special ritual was conducted after an incident involving ritual impurity was detected inside the temple premises.
According to sources, the incident occurred near the Beherana Dwara, close to the Jagamohan area of the temple. The matter came to light after the Mangala Alati, when temple servitors noticed the situation during the early morning rituals.
As per the age-old customs of the Srimandir, whenever such an occurrence is reported within the temple complex, the Maha Prabhu’s Mahasnana (grand ceremonial bathing ritual) is mandatorily performed to restore ritual sanctity.
Following the prescribed norms, the temple administration and servitors carried out the Bada Mahasnana and related purification rites in a disciplined manner. Officials confirmed that all rituals were completed smoothly in accordance with traditional procedures.
The incident and the subsequent observance of the special ritual have sparked discussion among devotees, highlighting the temple’s strict adherence to its centuries-old religious practices.
