ATM Machine Looted in Jajpur; Miscreants Flee with Cash Using Mini Truck

Jajpur: In a daring late-night robbery, unidentified miscreants uprooted an ATM machine along with cash from an HDFC Bank kiosk at Mainda Bazaar under Binjharpur police limits in Jajpur district.

According to sources, the incident took place during the late hours of the night when the accused targeted the isolated ATM outlet. The robbers reportedly used a mini truck to dismantle and transport the ATM machine. The vehicle was later found abandoned near the spot, indicating it was used specifically for executing the heist.

The crime came to light on Thursday morning after local residents noticed the damaged ATM kiosk and informed the police. Upon reaching the spot, police found the ATM structure vandalised, with clear signs of forced entry and the machine completely ripped apart.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the miscreants used the mini truck to haul away the ATM along with the cash inside. Police have launched an intensive probe and are scanning CCTV footage from nearby establishments and traffic junctions to identify the suspects and trace their movement.

A forensic team has also visited the scene to collect scientific evidence. Meanwhile, locals have expressed concern over the rising incidents of robbery in the area and blamed inadequate night patrolling for the increase in such crimes.

Further investigation is underway.
