At least two Exempted from UGC-NET exam.

Delhi,Dec 22: Umaiyah Khan, student at Jamia Milia Islamia University has alleged that she was not allowed that she was not allowed to appear for UGC-NET examination of her hijab.

Khan, who arrived at the exam centre at the Ojas Institute of Management in Rohini, north Delhi, on Thursday afternoon, was allegedly asked to remove her hijab by staff at the gate. a final-year MBA student majoring in international business at Jamia Millia Islamia University

 Khan express her anger and grief about it in her Twitter post saying “ It clearly says in constitution that we are free to follow any religion yet this chauvinistic govt. servants didn’t let me appear in my NET JRF 20 Dec 2018 exam because I was convincing them to let me cover my head and its in my religion.

Another woman in Goa Safina Khan Soudagar, an MA psychology student from St Xavier’s College in Mapusa, Goa, too was stopped from entering an exam centre in Panaji after she refused to remove her hijab.

The “important instructions for candidates” printed on the hall ticket do not mention a dress code. Nor do the public notice for the exam, published in newspapers, or the “general queries” on the NTA website.

 “We have rules for frisking and arriving well in time, according to Supreme Court guidelines. We have advised the centres that women should only be frisked by women. NTA director-general Joshi told.
