Assistant electrician hacked to death in Jatni

Bhubaneswar: An assistant electrician was allegedly hacked to death by unknown assailants late on night in Jatni, Odisha.
The police suspecting the killing could have been triggered by a dispute over electricity supply.
The deceased was identified as Markanda Baliyasingh, a native of Harirajpur under Delang Police Station, and was working as an assistant electrician at a local electrical sub-station.
According to police, Markanda was ambushed near Khudupur Chhak with a sharp weapon.
A patrolling PCR team noticed him lying on the road in a pool of blood and immediately took him to the AIIMS, Bhubaneswar where he took his last breathed.
A preliminary investigation in the incident indicated that personal enmity related to power supply could have been the motive for the attack.
The Police believe that someone annoyed with the cutting of electricity to a certain industrial establishment may have attacked Markanda in an act of retribution.
A case has been registered by the Jatni Police in this regard and the investigation is underway to arrest the assailants.
Police are investigating all possibilities, including that of an alleged power dispute behind the incident.
