Asit Tripathy, The New President of Bhubaneswar Club

Bhubaneswar (Reporters Today Bureau): Former Chief Secretary and Western Odisha Development Council Chairman Asit Tripathy was elected as the President of Bhubaneswar Club yesterday. The retired IAS Officer won with a margin of 278 votes by defeating his key rival Bijay Patnaik, the former Chief Secretary of Odisha, in the two-day polls held on September 25 and 26.
Tripathy received 776 votes while 498 votes went for Patnaik in the elections. The recent elections to Bhubaneswar Club had turned crucial as two former chief secretaries — Asit Tripathy (1986-batch IAS Officer) and Bijay Patnaik (1976-batch IAS Officer) — were locking the horns for the President post.
Finally, Tripathy emerged as the winner in the elections. “We will work to make this institution a multi-dimensional Club,” Asit told newsmen after election results.
