Arshdeep, Brar Lead Pace Blitz as India Bowl Out New Zealand for 185 in 1st ODI

Auckland, Nov 4: India’s young pace attack delivered a commanding performance to bowl out New Zealand for 185 in 40.2 overs in the first ODI at Eden Park on Wednesday.

Arshdeep Singh led the attack with four wickets for 70 runs, while Gurnoor Brar claimed three for 44 and Anshul Kamboj picked up two for 22 in an impressive bowling display.

Opting to bowl first, India struck early as Arshdeep dismissed Will Young and Henry Nicholls for nine runs each, reducing New Zealand to 44/2.

Tim Seifert provided some resistance with 38 off 43 balls, while Daryl Mitchell scored 28 and Glenn Phillips contributed 30. However, regular wickets prevented the hosts from building a substantial partnership.

Brar impressed with both ball and fielding, while Kamboj’s disciplined spell kept the scoring in check. Blair Tickner provided a late flourish with a quickfire 34 off 23 balls, including four sixes, helping New Zealand cross the 180-run mark.

India eventually wrapped up the innings in 40.2 overs, with Brar dismissing Tickner to end the resistance.

Brief Scores: New Zealand 185 all out in 40.2 overs (Tim Seifert 38, Glenn Phillips 30, Blair Tickner 34; Arshdeep Singh 4/70, Gurnoor Brar 3/44, Anshul Kamboj 2/22).
