Aparajita Sarangi: The Habitual COVID Law Breaker

Bhubaneswar (Surjit Kumar Dhal): The office of Bhubaneswar MP Mrs. Aparajita Sarangi at the State capital has been sealed for 15 days for violating COVID rules. The Parliamentarian from the Capital was earlier accused of flouting the safety guidelines after a video of her birth anniversary celebration at the office on last Thursday went viral. The video showed Aparajita surrounded by a huge number of supporters, who were not wearing face masks or maintaining social distance. Aparajita was also seen without a mask at the celebration point.

According to sources, a team led by Bhubaneswar Municipal Commissioner, zonal deputy commissioner Rabinarayan Jethy along with police reached her office to carry out the order today. The BMC notice said the premises will be sealed for 15 days and sanitised during the period. Those who had attended the celebration party also undergo Coronavirus test.

Meanwhile, COVID warriors have also written to Bhubaneswar DCP, demanding action against the MP for the offence. Terming her act as irresponsible and unfortunate, the activists said, “While we are working day and night risking our own lives in the battle against the hazardous disease, being a responsible citizen, Aparajita has repeatedly violated the Coronavirus guidelines set by the Government.
