Anubhav Mohanty’s petition dismissed, Trial to Continue in Lower Court

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Friday dismissed the petition filed by Ollywood actor and former MP Anubhav Mohanty to quash the proceedings pending before the Trial Court, arising out of a complaint lodged by Barsha Priyadarshini alleging harassment and other offences against Anubhav Mohanty and two of his staff members.

Upon hearing the parties, this Court dismissed the petition, holding that the allegations levelled by the complainant. The Court held that the Trial Court was directed to proceed with the trial and dispose of the case in accordance with law, uninfluenced by any observations made herein, paving the way for the trial to continue in the lower court.

Mohanty had approached the High Court seeking quashing of proceedings in a case filed by his former wife, actress Barsha Priyadarshini, alleging harassment during the period she was staying at Mohanty’s residence. However, the court declined to petition.

Barsha had earlier lodged a complaint accusing Anubhav Mohanty and two of his staff members of mental harassment and forcibly recording videos. Based on the complaint, the case was taken up by the trial court.

With the High Court’s refusal to intervene, the matter will now proceed as per law in the lower court.
