Angul: 2 Injured in Firing During Wedding Procession
Two persons sustained injuries after gunshots were fired during a wedding procession in Belpunji village under Athmallik police station limits in Angul district on Tuesday night.
Reports said the procession came from Boudh district and passed through Belpunji when gunshots rang out, creating panic among participants and villagers. The firing left two residents of Belpunji injured. One victim suffered a bullet wound in the right leg, while the other sustained an injury in the right hand.
Family members and locals rushed the injured to Boudh District Headquarters Hospital. Doctors described their condition as serious.
Preliminary findings indicated that the accused belongs to Boudh district. Police have not confirmed the motive behind the firing.
Athmallik police reached the scene quickly, examined the area, and began an investigation. Officers assured strict action against those responsible.
