Anganwadi supervisor arrested by Vigilance for graft

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance Department on Thursday apprehended Renuka Pattnaik, an Anganwadi Supervisor from Laxmipur Block in Koraput district, while she was accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.
The bribe was allegedly demanded from a newly appointed Anganwadi worker in exchange for facilitating her smooth posting and work conditions.

The complainant was repeatedly harassed by Pattnaik, who insisted on the sum of Rs 50,000 as a prerequisite for her to be allowed to work without hindrance.Upon receiving the complaint, Vigilance officials swiftly set up a trap. At the designated time, Pattnaik was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant.
Later searches were conducted at three different locations connected to Pattnaik in order to probe any possible disproportionate assets.

A case has been registered under Koraput Vigilance Police Station Case No. 14/2025, invoking Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, as part of ongoing investigations into the matter.
