Amit Shah Inaugurates SSB Projects in Siliguri

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday inaugurated several projects and laid foundation stones for new infrastructure at the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) headquarters in Siliguri, West Bengal.
Addressing SSB personnel, Shah praised the force for securing India’s open borders with Nepal and Bhutan, describing the responsibility as one of the most challenging border duties.

He said the Centre has given priority to the welfare and infrastructure needs of personnel deployed for border security. Foundation stones were laid for several SSB camps involving works worth around ₹189 crore.

Shah also spoke about border security in West Bengal and alleged that his government had repeatedly sought cooperation from the state authorities to tackle infiltration. He expressed appreciation for the people of Bengal and highlighted the importance of the Siliguri Corridor, saying the Centre has strengthened surveillance in the strategically important region.
