Ambulance Crashes into House Along NH-57 in Nayagarh, One Injured

Bhubaneswar: An ambulance travelling from Bhubaneswar to Boudh-Phulbani crashed into a house in Buguda village under Takara panchayat in Daspalla area of Nayagarh district late on Saturday night, raising fresh concerns over safety on the Khordha-Balangir National Highway (NH-57).

According to reports, the ambulance veered off the highway and rammed into the house of a local resident, Babula Gantayat. The impact caused minor injuries to Gantayat’s elder daughter, who was reportedly near the spot at the time of the accident.

A pet dog sleeping near the house died on the spot in the collision. A bicycle and several household appliances were also completely damaged due to the crash.

Fortunately, the ambulance was not carrying any patient at the time, preventing a potentially more serious tragedy.

Preliminary accounts from local residents suggest that driver negligence may have contributed to the accident.

Meanwhile, residents of the area once again raised concerns over the lack of speed breakers along this stretch of NH-57. They said the absence of proper safety measures has led to frequent accidents on the highway and urged authorities to install speed breakers and other traffic-calming measures to prevent further mishaps.
