Ama Bus Conductor Dismissed After Assault

Bhubaneswar: Tension flared on Thursday after a conductor of an Ama Bus allegedly assaulted a passenger during an argument over ticket prices on Route No. 28 near Unit 8 bus stop. The incident left the commuter injured and lying on the roadside. A video of the assault has since gone viral on social media, sparking widespread criticism.
According to eyewitnesses, the altercation between the conductor and the passenger quickly escalated, resulting in physical violence. Following the incident, Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), which manages the Ama Bus service, acted promptly and dismissed the conductor from service.
The Revenue Collection Agency (RCA) has lodged a preliminary report at the local police station. Meanwhile, CRUT has constituted a special inquiry team to investigate the matter in detail.
In response to growing concerns about passenger safety, CRUT officials said they are conducting regular behavioural and tolerance training for Ama Bus guides and captains. Over 1,500 employees have already received such training, and the initiative will continue to ensure discipline and accountability in the service.
