Ama Bus Catches Fire at Patia Depot, No Casualties Reported

Bhubaneswar: An electric ‘Ama Bus’ caught fire at the Patia Ama Bus depot in Bhubaneswar on Sunday afternoon while it was being charged. No casualties were reported in the incident.

According to officials, the fire is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit in the bus battery. On receiving information from the control room at around 3:15 pm, two fire service teams rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control within a short time.

Station Officer Biplab Kumar Jena said preliminary investigation points to a battery-related short circuit as the likely cause of the fire. “The fire has been completely doused and the situation is under control. There were no injuries or loss of life. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause,” he said.

The incident caused brief concern at the depot, but timely intervention by the fire services prevented any major damage.
