Agniveer Trainee Found Dead at INS Chilika, Probe Underway

Bhubaneswar: An Agniveer undergoing training at the INS Chilika Naval Training Centre in Odisha allegedly died by suicide on Thursday, officials said.

The deceased has been identified as Kartik Yadav (19), son of Rajkumar Yadav, a resident of Mohammadpur village under Bhaumi tehsil in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to preliminary information, Yadav had joined the training programme around four months ago and was reportedly under mental stress related to the rigorous training schedule. He allegedly hanged himself using a rope inside Barrack No. 7 of the training facility.

Authorities at the naval establishment have initiated an inquiry into the incident. Further details are awaited.
