Agniveer Job Scam: Two Arrested

Khurda: Khurda Police has busted a massive Agniveer job racket and arrested two persons including an officer and former officer of the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Chilka.

After a thorough observation, the training officer of INS Chilka reportedly had kept a close vigil on some officers’ movement and later lodged a complaint at Balugaon Police station on April 19 alleging some officers’ involvement in fraudulent practices.

Based on the complaint, Balugaon Police initiated an investigation after registering Balugaon PS Case No 118 under section 318 (4) and 308 (2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). In course of the investigation, cops busted a massive job racket, informed Khurda SP Sagarika Nath adding that cops also arrested one of the officers of the INS Chilka along with a former officer (from Uttar Pradesh) on charges of taking money from candidates with assurance to provide them job under the Agniveer scheme.

Nath also said that a police team will go to INS Kesari tomorrow to arrest once of the officers for his link in the Agniveer job racket.

The trio allegedly used to make phone calls to the candidates who have passed the Agniveer written exam held in November 24 and demand money from them assuring to help them get the job. However, police successfully busted the racket and made the arrests. Further probe into the matter is underway. Police also have seized a total of four mobile phones and 12 bank accounts of the accused persons have been seized. They used to take money from the job aspirants ranging from Rs 30,000 per person to Rs 1.2 Lakh per person, the SP said.
