Kharif paddy procurement registration date extended

Bhubaneswar: In a big relief for the farmers, the registration process for the procurement of the Kharif crop has been extended. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has announced the extension of the farmer’s registration for Kharif crop.
According to information, Chief Minister Majhi had reviewed the Kharif paddy procurement of the current year and also checked the farmers registered. As of now as many as 11.50 lakh farmers had registered. As per his direction, the registration window for the farmers for Kharif paddy procurement has been extended.
It is worth mentioning here that the registration window opened on July 19 and was supposed to remain open till August 20.
However, on the request and for the benefits of the lakhs of farmers in Odisha, the window has been extended.
Official sources expect the registration of around 10,93,220 more farmers in the portal for Kharif paddy procurement.
The Food supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra informed that the process of paddy procurement has been eased for the benefit of the farmers.
Odisha government has procured 16 lakh metric tonnes more paddy than last year, informed Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra. A total of 74 lakh metric tonnes this year, which is 16 lakh more than last year.
