Over 20 injured as passenger bus overturns in Dhenkanal

Kamakhyanagar: Over 20 passengers were injured after a passenger bus overturned to the roadside into a canal of the Rengali Dam. The incident happened near Kantiokateni under Kamakhyanagar-Tumusingha police limits.

According to information, around 50 passengers were travelling in the bus. The private bus overturned to the canal side and over 20 passengers have been injured.

The Kamakhyanagar fire brigade, locals and the police rescued the victims. Many of them were hit on their head. The critical were rushed to the Anlabereni Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment.

As the construction work of the Public works department (PWD) was going on between Parajanga to Pandua, the bus took the canal route thus meeting with an accident.

The route being narrower than the other route led to the driver losing balance and met with the accident.

In another accident in Boudh as many as two people died. A private bus hit a bullet bike near Gajarajpur under Baunsuni on the National Highway 57 in Boudh district.

According to information, two bikers going a bullet bike died on the spot after a private bus named Raghunath hit them rear ended.

The deceased has been identified as Amit Jhankar of Phingalbeda village and Siddhant Pradhan of Krushnapali village.

Fortunately, the passengers had a narrow escape and everyone was safe. The bus was heading from Bhubaneswar to Umerkote in Nabarangpur district when the accident occurred midway in Boudh.
