Ravenshaw University Bans Women on Campus After 5:30 PM Amid Safety Concerns

Bhubaneswar: In response to the tragic death of Soumyashree Bisi, a student of Fakir Mohan (FM) College who died following a self-immolation attempt, Ravenshaw University has introduced new safety measures aimed at protecting its female students and employees.
As per a circular issued by the registrar’s office, no female student, faculty member, or employee will be permitted to remain on campus after 5:30 PM. The guidelines will be enforced temporarily until a formal Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is developed and implemented.

The university authorities stated that the move is intended to enhance safety and regulate working hours for women on campus in light of growing concerns over harassment and student welfare.
Officials added that the restrictions are a preventive measure and part of broader efforts to create a secure environment for all women associated with the institution.
