Vegetable Prices Skyrocket in Silver City

Cuttack: The vegetable rates are soaring high. The prices of vegetables in the Urban Haat at Cuttack’s Chatra bazaar has remained extremely high.
The price of spiny gourd (kankada) was Rs 60 per kg. Brinjal was sold for Rs 80 per kilo while pointed gourd cost Rs 70 per kilo. Drumsticks (sajana) were selling at Rs 100 per kilo and cauliflower at Rs 60 while Jhudunga cost Rs 60 per kilogram. Tomato was sold for Rs 35 to 40 per kilo. Only raw papaya and Ivy gourd (kunduri) was sold for Rs 30 per kilo.
The consumers are worried over the skyrocketing price of the vegetables. They have expressed their concern and disappointment.
A resident said, “Earlier vegetable bags used to get filled in Rs 200 to Rs 300 but now it takes Rs 500 to fill the bags.”
Even the sellers expressed their concern and said that many consumers are not buying and the ones who are buying are buying very less quantity.
