Stampede-like situation near Saradhabali, 3 devotees die

Puri: In an unfortunate incident, as many as three people died over stampede-like situation at Saradhabali in Puri on early Sunday morning.

According to information, two of them are women while the other one is a man. The deceased have been identified as Basanti Sahu (36), Premakant Mohanty and Pravati Das.

Sources said that, it being a Sunday, people had thronged to witness the Pahada around 4.00 am today. Due to overcrowding the stampede-like situation arose. Many devotees had gathered to witness the Pahada at Sri Gundicha temple early at 4.00 am.

The stampede like situation happened near the Rath at around 4.00 am as the devotees had gathered for the morning Pahada.
