Former Sub-Divisional Small Savings Officer convicted in vigilance case

Cuttack: Sanjaya Kumar Sahoo, the former Sub-Divisional Small Savings Officer of the office of the Cuttack Collectorate, Cuttack (retired), who was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance.

Sahoo was charge-sheeted in a case U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demanding and taking bribe from a complainant for issuance of postal agency licence in his favour, was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and fine.

Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of the former Sub-Divisional Small Savings Officer following his conviction.

Himanshu Sekhar Mishra, Ex-Inspector, Vigilance, Cuttack Division had investigated the case and Sarbeswar Barik, Special Public Persecutor and Deepak Kumar Swain, the Assistant Public Persecutor, Vigilance, Cuttack jointly conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
