Puri to be designated as pilgrim city

Puri: The Odisha government will put a ban on the sale of non-vegetarian food and alcohol near Srimandir. The city of Puri will soon be designated as a pilgrimage city informed Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan.

It was a long-standing request from the devotees to put a ban on the sale of non-vegetarian food and alcohol near the Srimandir. Similarly, it will also be declared as a pilgrimage city.

According to information, he also mentioned that all the houses near the Bada Danda will have a uniform height. The houses that are facing the Bada Danda will also be re-structured.

The work is in the preliminary stage now informed the Law Minister while speaking to media personnel.

Ahead of the Snana Yatra on June 11, a high-level meeting was held at the Circuit house in Puri today. Meanwhile, the government has restricted the private media channels from stationing their OB vans and has allowed only Doordarshan for the live telecast. The private channels can stream the Snana Yatra via the feed of Doordarshan.
