Kandhamal: Father-minor son killed in road mishap

Baliguda: In a tragic incident, a man and his minor son were killed in a road mishap in Kandhamal district of Odisha on Monday morning. The father died on the spot while the son died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The accident took place on the Galigaru turning under Baliguda police station limits in the district.

The deceased has been identified as Hema Kanhar of Sirshipanga village in Rutungia panchayat under Baliguda police station.

As per reports, Hema Kanhar was returning to Sirshipanga village on a bike with his minor son after having a feast in Raipanga village when a jackfruit laden pick up van, which was heading towards Mohangiri from Baliguda, hit him in the front.

As a result the man was killed on the spot.  The minor boy was rescued by the locals and admitted to Baliguda hospital for treatment. However, his condition worsened and he was shifted to Phulbani hospital in a critical condition where he succumbed to the injury.

After the accident, the jackfruit laden Bolero pick up van fled from the scene. However, after getting information about the accident, Baliguda Police swung into action and apprehended the vehicle and seized.

Police also reached the accident spot and seized the body of the man and sent to Baliguda hospital for autopsy. Further investigation of the case is underway.
