Odisha Aims for Zero AIDS Cases by 2030, Boosts Healthcare

Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of World AIDS Day, Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling announced a significant decline in AIDS cases across the state, with a goal of zero new infections by 2030.
Currently, Odisha has around 50,000 active AIDS cases. Ganjam district reports the highest number at 20,000 cases, while Sonepur has the lowest with 150. However, Minister Mahaling noted that undetected cases may still exist in certain areas.
The Health Department has intensified efforts through preventive measures and awareness campaigns to eliminate new infections by 2030.
In a bid to strengthen healthcare services, the state government will also appoint 250 radiographers in government hospitals, aiming to enhance diagnostic capabilities. More healthcare positions are expected to be announced soon, Mahaling added.
