CM Mohan to Present Budget Today

Bhubaneswar (Surjit Kumar Dhal): Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is slated to present the Odisha Budget in the state assembly on Thursday, said reports. Efforts have been taken to ensure that the upcoming budget reflects the aspirations of all so that it can be termed as a ‘people’s budget,’ Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi had informed while interacting with the media on July 12.
There was a pre-budget consultation meeting at the Convention Hall of Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar on July 12 following which, Majhi had said that the State government as “People’s Government” has been giving importance to the people since the very first day.
“As the annual budget for 2024-25 financial year will be presented on July 25, people’s suggestions were sought through online platforms. We have received over 12,000 proposals, which is six times more than earlier. It is encouraging to see people’s active participation in the process of budget preparation,” the CM had said. He had also thanked the people for their valuable suggestions and assured that the State will try its best to reflect people’s aspirations in the budget.
It is worth mentioning here that, the CM had retained the finance department portfolio under him hence he will be presenting the budget. As per the information, the full budget proposal has been approved. The budget this time is much more than the previous government’s budget.
According to the information, the Odisha’s budget plan this year may rise to three lakh crore. The full budget for the financial year 2024-25 will be presented. This will be the first budget of the newly formed BJP government in the state. The previous government brought a four-month interim budget. The validity of that budget expires on July 31. The budget session of Odisha Assembly will be held in two phases till September 13. It shall have a total of 27 working days. Further detailed reports awaited in this regard.
