Locals oppose BPCL public hearing

Surjit Kumar Dhal, Paradip, July 19: Locals here have opposed the public hearing on the proposed oil storage tank expansion project of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(BPCL) on Wednesday.
The BPCL had organised the public hearing for the constructions of ethanol, bio-diesel and HSD oil storage tank with the investment of Rs 19 crore.
Paradip ADM Kanhu Charan Dhir, ASP Bishnu Charan Mishra and OSPCB Regional head were present on the occasion.
But it was alleged that the BPCL organisers had not informed the locals or media representatives about the meeting.
Notably, the present capacity of the tank is 60,000 KEL which is needed to be raised by another 13, 000 KEL.
The locals feel that due to the expansion pollution will increase and harm human being.
They allege that being highly inflammable this project will also pose threat to the lives of the people.
