Villagers tense over possible water logging during rainy season

Surjit Kumar Dhal,Paradip, June 21: People in 29 Maujas of seven panchayats near Paradip are in tense over possible waterlogging during the rainy season.
Notably, river Haladipani was the only outlet for excess rainwater from Bhutmundai through Biswali,Kothi,Bagadia,Nuagarh and Paradip Garh.
But due to alleged encroachment by several industrial and business establishments, the low lying villages are facing tough time during rainy season.
29 Mauja Village Committee advisor Sushant Sekhar Swain said that the affected villagers have staged protests and complained to concerned authorities several times in the past but no action has been taken so far.
Delegation of the affected villagers and their committee have also met Minister of Water Resources Raghunandan Das and hope their long pending demand will be resolved soon.
Das during a felicitation programme had assured resolving the issue as it affected the farmers.
