Samant supports Dutee

Surjit Kumar Dhal, Bhubaneswar, May 21: Founder KIIT and KISS Dr Achyut Samant has come in support of Odisha’s sprint queen Dutee Chand who recently confessed having been in lesbian relationship.

“ It takes courage to do so and I respect her personal decision,” Samant said in a facebook post in his reaction on Dutee’s revelation which has shaken the sports fraternity across the country.

                Samant said, “ Learnt that Dutee is one of the first sportsperson in India to come out of the closet. She has been a trailbrazxer both in lie and sports. I have always supported her in every aspect right from the time I met her because I could sport her talent very early.”

                He said, “ I knew her revelation from the newspapers and didn’t have any idea about it. There will be a range of rows and talking following this revelation. But I advise her to focus on her games, especially Olympics because the state and country counts on her and has a lot of expectations from her,” he said.

                Samant said further that She can take her decisions but he was only concerned about her career.

                “Let goodness prevail and may god bless her for a glorious career in sports,” Samant wished.
