BJD fields Bed Prakash’s wife from Patkura

Surjit Ku mar Dhal,Bhubaneswar, April 30: The BJD has decided to filed Sabitri Agarwalla, wife of the late Bed Prakash Agarwalla, to contest the Patkura Assembly seat where election was countermanded recently.
The announcement about Sabitri being fielded was made by the BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday.
Notably, a BJD nominee Bed Prakash had died on on April 20.
Voting will be held in Patkura on May 19.
Earlier, Agarwal’s son Sanjay had expressed a desire to contest the seat if the party so decides, to take on veteran leader Bijoy Mohapatra, which is contesting the election on BJP ticket.
The ECI has notified the last day of filing of nomination on May 1, verification of the nomination papers on May 2 and the last date for withdrawal on May 4.
The BJP, Congress and other political parties have already finalized the name of their candidate for Patkura seat.
