Marginal fall in temperature in Odisha   

Surjit Kumar Dhal, Bhubaneswar, Apr 18: Marginal fall in temperature on Wednesday brought the much-needed respite for the people of Odisha reeling under the searing heatwave condition, which is sweeping the state.

           The manimum temperature in Bhubaneswar, which continued to be the hottest place in the state, fell to 41.7 degree celsius from 43.7 degrees on Tuesday, the Meteorological Centre here said.

          The mercury level remained above 40 degrees in at least 40 places. Angul followed Bhubaneswar closely recording a maximum temperature of 41.1 degree celsius as against 42.7 degree Tuesday.

          Titlagarh in western Odisha recorded 41 degree celsius, while the mercury level stood at 40.5 degree at Malkangiri and 40 degree Celsius at Sundargarh, Bhawanipatna and Sonepur, it said.

          In view of the prevailing heatwave, the Odisha government had on Tuesday advanced the summer vacation for all educational institutions in the state to April 18 from May 6.

          The Met office said the situation is likely to continue in most parts of the state for the next couple of days.
