Bibhu Tarai gets BJP ticket for Jagatsinghpur LS seat

Surjit Kumar Dhal, Bhubaneswar, April 6: The central election committee of the BJP on Saturday announced candidates for one Lok Sabha and two Assembly seats in Odisha.

The states goes to the polls in four phases from April 11.

The party has fielded Bibhu Prasad Tarai, who recently joined the BJP, from Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha seat.

Tarai, a former senior Congress leader, had quit the grand old party on April 4, expressing resentment over ticket distribution.

The Congress had nominated him for the Tirtol Assembly seat.

Notably, Tarai had been elected as MP from Jagatsinghpur on a CPI ticket in 2009 before he joined the Congress.

Meanwhile the party fielded Sunakar Behera in Kendrapara and Rabi Mallick in Kakatpur Assembly constituencies.

Mallick too had joined the saffron party after being denied ticket by the ruling BJD.
