Odisha varsity Prof quits for talking against military action to avenge Pulwama blast

Surjit kumar Dhal, Bhubaneswar, Feb 26: An Associate Professor of prestigious KIIT University put in her papers after being reprimanded by varsity authorities for opposing military action against Pakistan post Pulwama blast.

Though the woman professor could not be contacted to ascertain the exact reason for her decision, it is claimed that she was asked to quit.

Notably, Assistant professor at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Madhumita Ray during a panel discussion mounted by a news channel is reported to have vehemently opposed any military action on the ground that it had far reaching economical ramification.

Ray was tagged anti-national by a senior ex-serviceman who was another panelist.

Ray insisted that in 70 years, India and Pakistan have fought many wars but there has been no solution.

“ A war to avenge 40 soldiers, will lead to more soldiers dying, weaken the economy and exhaust the country’s resources,” she had said.

However, She pitched for proper engagement with the people in Kashmir.

“India is a democratic country and a proper political process should be in place at J&K.”

Madhumita reportedly talked about ‘army brutality’ and ‘excesses’ in Kashmir and North-East.

Media reports on Tuesday suggested that Ray’s comments did not go down well with who is who of the varsity and was asked to appear before a disciplinary committee of KIIT university.

She was told to quit immediately as she did not take the permission of the authorities to join the TV panel discussion.
