Four of family sentenced to life imprisonment for killing woman in Panikoili

Surjit kumar Dhal, Jajpur, Feb 16: The Additional District Judge here on Friday sentenced four members of a family to life imprisonment on charges of killing their daughter-in-law at Solpata in Panikoili area of Jajpur district in 2014.

The newly-wed woman, Kusumlata Sahu was allegedly murdered by her husband and in-laws and her body dumped in a pond.

Based on the allegations of the woman’s family, police launched a search and fished out her body from a nearby pond.

Police had arrested five persons- Kusum’s husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in law and sister-in-law, on charges of killing her.

While her brother-in-law died in jail last year, four others were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.
