Surjit kumar Dhal,Bhubaneswar, Feb 14: Bajrang Dal activists on Thursday took out a protest rally in the city here to condemn Valentine’s Day celebrations.
The activists held a peaceful rally and demonstrated in front of Forest Park, Jayadev Vatika, Ekamra Park, IG Park and the Regional Plant Resource Centre.
They said that Valentine’s Day, a part of western culture, has a negative effect on Hindu culture.
They urged the youths to embrace the essence of Indian culture and tradition which is now adored by western countries.
However, the Commissionerate Police has made elaborate security arrangements in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
As many as 15 platoons of police force have been deployed at parks, malls and other public places.
Police commissioner Satyajit Mohanty said the police will not tolerate incidents of harassment with anyone on the Valentine’s Day.
Mohanty assured security to couples as long as they act and behave sensibly, decently and responsibly.
Mohanty said unsocial or criminal activities will be dealt with as per law.
“We wouldn’t tolerate incidents of harassment with anyone on the Valentine’s Day,” he added.
