Maoists torch bus during ‘Protest Week’

Bhubaneswar, Jan 29: Armed Maoists are reported to have torched a private passenger bus near Mahupadar under Mathili PS in Odisha’s Malkangiri district late Monday night.

Reports here said that the bus  was on its way to Motu from Komarpalli when nearly 20 extremists intercepted the vehicle and forced the passengers down before torching the vehicle.

The driver of the bus was also assaulted for plying the bus, during the ‘protest week.’ by the extremist, the report added.

The Maoists also pasted posters and distributed leaflets in the area before fleeing.
