Odisha Govt. waives royalty on sal leaf

Bhubaneswar, Jan 21: Odisha Government Monday waived royalty on sal leaves completely in bid to provide relief to pluckers, mostly tribals.

An announcement to this effect was made by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

As per a release from the Chief Minister’s Office said, “It will benefit about 25 lakh Sal pluckers of our State.”

Notably, the prevailing royalty on ‘Sal’ leaf is Rs 86 per quintal.
