New Low-Pressure System Over Andaman Sea, Depression Likely in 48 Hours

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported a fresh low-pressure area over the south Andaman Sea on Thursday morning, raising the possibility of another weather system developing over the Bay of Bengal.

The system is likely to strengthen into a well-marked low-pressure area within 24 hours and further intensify into a depression over the following 24 hours. It is expected to move west-northwestwards.

Although its potential impact on Odisha’s coastline remains uncertain, the system could bring heavy rainfall and strong winds to parts of the eastern coast. The IMD is closely monitoring its movement and intensity, with a clearer assessment expected in the next 24–48 hours.

Fishermen have been advised to follow official weather warnings before venturing into the sea, while coastal residents are urged to remain alert.
