UNSC Reform Needed to Give Developing Nations Greater Voice: Vikram Misri

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has called for urgent reforms in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), stressing the need for greater representation of developing countries in global decision-making.
Addressing the 50th Annual Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Group of 77 (G77) during the 81st UN General Assembly session in New York, Misri said developing nations must have a stronger role in shaping international rules and institutions.

He highlighted the continuing importance of the G77 in promoting development-focused and people-centric multilateral cooperation. Misri also urged collective efforts to ensure that countries of the Global South move beyond simply following international rules and gain a meaningful role in shaping them.
