Pranesh M Wins Kanizsa Open 2026 Title in Hungary

India’s 19-year-old Grandmaster Pranesh M has won the Kanizsa Open 2026 Group A title in Nagykanizsa, Hungary.
Pranesh defeated Germany’s Vadim Petrovskiy with the white pieces in the ninth and final round to finish the tournament with 7 points from 9 rounds.

The Tamil Nadu-born chess player shared the top score with Or Bronstein of Israel, Andrei Volokitin of Ukraine and fellow Indian Karthik Venkataraman, but secured the championship on a superior tiebreak.

Pranesh, rated 2673, is currently ranked 44th in the August 2026 FIDE rankings. The Indian Embassy in Hungary congratulated him on his impressive victory.
