Odisha Vigilance Action: Ex-PACS Secretary Held

Odisha Vigilance has arrested former secretary of Tusura Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS), Sanoj Kumar Mishra, for allegedly misappropriating government funds worth ₹42.31 lakh during paddy procurement.
Mishra served as the PACS secretary under Gudvela block during the 2014-15 Kharif Marketing Season. He was responsible for procuring paddy from farmers and sending the stock to designated rice mills for custom milling.
According to Vigilance officials, a significant quantity of procured paddy was neither delivered to the tagged rice mills nor properly recorded in the society’s stock registers. The alleged irregularities resulted in a financial loss of ₹42,31,608.
After his arrest, Mishra was produced before the Special Judge, Vigilance, Balangir. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and IPC Section 409.
The Vigilance department said further investigation is underway.
