SBI ATM looted, gas cutter used for opening in Odisha’s Umarkot

Umarkot: A State Bank of India (SBI) ATM machine located at Kondaga Road of Umarkot town in Odisha’s  Nabarangpur district was reportedly looted by  miscreants after they cut it open using a gas cutter.

According to reports, the miscreants utilized the night to enter the ATM booth and using a gas cutter to cut the machine’s doors, fled away with the cash.

The matter came into light on Friday morning when people in the vicinity witnessed the vandalised ATM and informed the authorities.

Upon arriving at the scene, the police started probing the incident.

It has been learnt that the bank employees have also been checking the quantum of cash stolen from the ATM.

Police have also gathered clues from the incident spot and have also been scanning CCTV footage of close vicinity to trace out the involved offenders.

Sources also indicate the stolen case as likely committed by an organised gang of thieves, however, police maintained that nothing could be said definitively before the completion of the investigation.

A wide search has been undertaken to apprehend the persons behind this incident.

Also this ATM related robbery also casts shadows over the security arrangements in different ATM.

Nabarangpur Superintendent of Police Mr. Parth Kashyap has also rushed to the crime scene to lead the investigation work.
