Man arrested for killing younger brother in Sundaragada over family dispute

Sundaragada: A man was found murdered at Nuadihi village under Hemgir police station limits in Sundaragada district of Odisha on Friday morning.

The police have arrested the accused elder brother, who has allegedly murdered his sibling over family dispute.

The deceased has been identified as Kelal Patel (35) whereas the accused elder brother is Bedlal Patel (40).

According to the information available from locals, the argument started at the residence when Bedlal accused the deceased for carrying some materials used for the construction from the house to sell in the market for consuming liquor.

The incident then grew over some time and after heated argument both the brothers were fighting against each other.

Family members said that Kelal attacked the elder brother.

Reacting to the attacks, Bedlal allegedly took a sharp weapon nearby him then attacked while trying to shield himself.

Following which, critically injured Kelal died on the spot.

On being informed, Hemgir Police reached at the incident spot and took the accused in custody.

The body has been preserved at Community Health Center mortuary at Himgir and will be sent for post-mortem once the inquest is complete.

Police said they have taken up the issue and investigating in all aspects.
