Notorious criminal wounded in exchange of fire in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: A notorious criminal was injured in a police encounter in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Thursday. The incident occurred in the Nuasahi area.

The accused criminal has been identified as Prafulla Mallik alias Papu, who has over twenty five cases of criminal activities against him including murder, robbery and snatching in various police stations of Bhadrak and Balasore districts.

As per reports, Prafulla and his associate were trying to carry out robbery in Bhadrak last night. Upon receiving a tip-off from an informer, a police team raided the area.

Prafulla allegedly fired two rounds on the police personnel to escape during the raid.

However, the police team returned the fire in which Prafulla was shot in his right leg and has been admitted to Bhadrak Hospital where he is under going treatment.

Meanwhile, his accomplice fled from the scene.

Investigation is currently underway by the police to find the absconding associate.
