Brown Sugar Smuggling Foiled in Khordha: 4 Held
Nachuni police in Khurda district achieved a major breakthrough by arresting four traffickers and seizing ten grams of brown sugar along with the vehicle used in the smuggling operation.
Acting on intelligence from Khurda SP Vivekanand Sharma, Balugaon SDPO Sanjay Kumar Pattnayak, and Nachuni IIC Bibhuti Bhusan Mahapatra supervised the raid. A police team led by Sub-Inspector Mochiram Jalli intercepted an Alto car (OR 02 AN 6409) near Kaithapalla Square on National Highway 16.
The traffickers were caught red-handed while transporting the contraband from Berhampur. Police seized the brown sugar and arrested all four occupants of the car.
Nachuni police registered Case No-169/10.5.26 under Sections 21(B) and 29 of the NDPS Act. The accused were produced in court.
The operation involved coordinated efforts from ASI Gangadhar Hembram, constables A. Puri and P. Behera, and village guard Prasanna Nayak. Officials said the crackdown demonstrated the district police’s commitment to curbing drug trafficking.
