Odisha Govt Withdraws Interest-Free EV Advances for Employees

Bhubaneswar: In a significant policy shift, the Odisha government has discontinued the provision of interest-free advances for its employees to purchase electric vehicles (EVs).

According to a letter issued by the state Finance Department on Tuesday, the facility has been withdrawn with effect from April 1, 2026. All government departments have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the decision.

The interest-free advance scheme was introduced under the Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy, 2021, notified by the Commerce and Transport Department to promote the adoption of eco-friendly transport among government employees.

The policy was initially valid until December 31, 2025, and was later extended till March 31, 2026. The Finance Department had also specified the final deadlines for availing the benefit.

With the latest directive, the scheme now stands discontinued, marking the end of the incentive aimed at encouraging EV adoption within the state government workforce.
