Heatwave: Schools in Gajapati to Remain Closed from April 22 to 24

Gajapati: In response to prevailing heatwave conditions, authorities have ordered the closure of all schools in Gajapati district for three days, from April 22 to April 24.
The directive, issued by the District Education Office, applies to both government and private institutions, covering classes from Sishu Vatika to Class XII.

Officials clarified that the closure will not impact scheduled examinations. Students appearing for exams will continue as per the existing timetable without any changes.
Meanwhile, in neighbouring Malkangiri district, the administration has announced a slightly longer closure, with schools set to remain shut from April 22 to April 25 due to the ongoing heatwave.
Despite the shutdown, examinations for Classes V to VIII will be conducted in accordance with guidelines issued by the Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA). Essential administrative activities, including census-related work and routine school operations, will also continue during the closure period.
The precautionary move comes as temperatures continue to rise across several parts of Odisha, with authorities prioritising student safety while ensuring minimal disruption to academic schedules.
