Burglars Steal Jewellery Worth Rs 20 Lakh in Jharsuguda

Burglars targeted the house of businessman Dasharath Sharma in Talpatia village under Jharsuguda Airport Police Station late Wednesday night.
The gang broke into the residence and stole gold, silver, and diamond ornaments worth nearly Rs 20 lakh along with Rs 10,000 cash.
Police sources said three to four miscreants entered the house and opened the almirah to carry out the theft. Sharma lodged a formal complaint at the Airport Police Station.
Senior officials, including SP Gundala Raghavendra Reddy, SDPO Umashankar Singh, IIC Bandana Nayak, and SI Arun Sahu, reached the spot with a team to begin the investigation. Authorities deployed a sniffer dog squad to track the culprits and started examining CCTV footage from Sharma’s residence.
The incident created panic in the locality, with residents demanding stronger security measures. Police intensified patrolling and assured swift action to nab the culprits.
As of Thursday afternoon, investigators had not yet traced the burglars. The probe continues, with officials confident of making progress soon.
