President Droupadi Murmu to Visit Rourkela on April 21, Set to Launch Projects Worth Rs 158 Crore

Rourkela: President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to make her maiden visit to Rourkela on April 21, during which she will inaugurate multiple development projects worth a total of Rs 158 crore in the Steel City.

Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram announced the details of the visit at a press conference held at the BJP district office in Sundargarh.

According to the schedule, the President will depart from New Delhi and land at Jharsuguda Airport before proceeding to Rourkela by helicopter, where she is expected to arrive around 11:10 am. She will remain in the city for approximately five hours and is scheduled to leave at 4:00 pm the same day.

During her visit, the President will inaugurate the Integrated Command and Control Centre near Panposh Hockey Chowk, built at a cost of Rs 48 crore. She will also launch the Tribal Museum located within the same premises, developed at an estimated cost of Rs 40 crore.

In addition, President Murmu will inaugurate the Science Park and Planetarium at BSNL Square in Chhend Colony, constructed with an investment of Rs 27 crore. The Recreational Park in Koelnagar, developed at a cost of Rs 45 crore, will also be dedicated to the public.

As part of the event, the President will address a large public gathering at Sector-13 Melon Padia ground. More than 10,000 school and college students from across Sundargarh district are expected to attend the event, along with over 35 cultural troupes presenting traditional and folk performances.

The projects are expected to significantly boost education, tourism, and the preservation of tribal culture in the region.
